VILLA IA: Location, Style & Architectural Identity

Nestled in the pristine coastal landscape of Sithonia, Halkidiki, VILLA IA embodies a contemporary natural architectural identity, where architecture, nature, and curated design converge in seamless dialogue. The beach house interior design concept unfolds around a vast open-plan living and kitchen area on the ground floor, featuring natural stone cladding anchors the exterior to its setting, while the interior celebrates authenticity through porous limestone, solid wood surfaces, and bespoke furniture pieces designed to enhance spatial harmony.

From the ground floor, a staircase with elegant wooden flooring leads to the first and second floors, where the private and personal spaces unfold — bedrooms, offices, bathrooms, and dressing areas.

Between the floors, an interior atrium opens above the dining area, creating a striking architectural feature that floods the home with natural light and enhances spatial continuity. This design element provides visual connection across levels, amplifying the sense of openness and fluidity throughout the villa.

A defining feature of the project lies in the custom wall and ceiling finishes applied in the master bedroom and the main living area. This artisanal technique, composed of natural sand-based materials, was developed in a bespoke chromatic palette to achieve a tactile, organic texture that fuses the warmth of nature with the clarity of modernism.

The Interior Spaces & the Connection with Nature

The living room seamlessly connects visually and spatially to the pool terrace, creating a continuous dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces. The same material palette, textures, and curated furnishings extend outside, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic that unites the interior with the surrounding landscape.

The kitchen centers around a monumental custom Kitchen Island, clad in porolith slabs, serving as both a functional hub and a sculptural element. Fully integrated with a sink and faucet, the island is designed for maximum comfort and usability, while its strategic placement allows panoramic views of the surrounding gardens and natural landscape through surrounding openings. This combination of practicality, organic materials, and visual connection to nature embodies the villa’s ethos of seamless indoor–outdoor living.

The Master Bedroom is conceived as a sanctuary, centered around a sculptural bed positioned to face outward toward the landscape. This monumental, organic composition — reminiscent of carved rock formations — serves both as functional furniture and as an architectural gesture, blurring the line between design object and natural sculpture. The custom-built bed anchors the room as a centerpiece, reinforcing the dialogue between materiality, scale, and view.

Lighting Study, Bespoke Furniture & Special Interior Shadings

Lighting design enhances the narrative throughout the villa, combining concealed ambient layers with statement luminaires to emphasize textures, surfaces, and volumes.

Bespoke furniture and custom design pieces have been carefully integrated throughout the home. Contemporary design items and trend-forward pieces — from iconic luminaires to statement sofas — were selected following thorough market research, ensuring that each element contributes both aesthetically and functionally to the overall architectural concept. This curated selection establishes a refined balance between modern sophistication and raw tactility, supporting the villa’s identity as an elegant, living work of art.

Throughout the villa, a comprehensive study of interior and exterior shading was conducted to ensure practical comfort while emphasizing the natural ambiance and spatial unity. Curtains were selected in natural earth-tone fabrics, while blinds employ synthetic materials that mimic these tones, maintaining a cohesive aesthetic and reinforcing the villa’s organic, serene atmosphere.

Curated Styling & Decorative Elements

The villa’s interiors have been carefully styled by Fani Antoniou to complement the architecture, incorporating thoughtfully selected plants, curated décor, and subtle influences from Mexican and organic aesthetics. Natural rope details appear in rugs, stools, and accessories, while small decorative objects, art books, and tactile items enhance the sensory experience. This personalized styling creates a warm, layered, and lived-in atmosphere that resonates with the villa’s organic modern ethos, reinforcing the cohesion between the interior spaces and the surrounding natural landscape.
